چکیده
A new compound, 2-phenyl-2-(2-pyridyl) thioacetamide (Fig. 1) with a powerful inhibitory effect on gastric secretion has recently been synthesised.' Bedi, Gillespie, and Gillespie (1967), using vagally innervated and Heidenhain pouch dogs, have shown it to inhibit gastrin-stimulated acid secretion. In that they failed to demonstrate any effect on histaminestimulated or amechol-stimulated gastric secretion, they claim that it is a specific gastrin antagonist. The compound has a molecular weight of 228-3 and melting point of 133 to 141°C. It is almost insoluble in water, sparingly soluble in petroleum ether, ethanol and propylene glycol, but readily soluble in chloroform and acetone or dimethyl sulphoxide. In preliminary testing it has been shown to have a low acute and chronic toxicity in rats and dogs. Because of its theoretical and practical potential, we have assessed its effect on gastric secretion stimulated in various ways. The three papers presented here report work undertaken independently, N

administered orally in a small pellet of bread 60 to 90 minutes before commencing the histamine infusion (2.0 mg/hr). In three experiments, 200 mg SC 15396 was given intragastrically via the gastric cannula 60 minutes before the infusion. Significant depression of secretion over control experiments was not demonstrable by either technique. In several of the test experiments, however, particulat...

متن کاملEffects of endogenous production and exogenous administration of H2S on gastric acid secretion in rats
Introduction: Recently, hydrogen sulfide has been introduced as the third gas that acts as a transmitter. It has many physiological and pharmacological roles in the human body. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of exogenously administered and endogenously produced H2S on the basal and distention-induced gastric acid secretion in rats. Methods: Forty-nine male Wistar...
متن کاملThe Effects of Acute Consumption of Heroin on Basal and Vagal-Stimulated Gastric Acid and Pepsin Secretion in Rat
Background: Opioid peptides and their receptors are present in the majority of body tissues including gastrointestinal tract. Heroin is one of the opioid derivatives that abuse increasingly today. So far, there is no study on the effect of acute heroin administration on gastric acid and pepsin secretion. Objective: To define the effect of the acute heroin consumption on basal and vagal-stimu...
متن کاملThe effects of aqueous extract of Aloe vera leaves on the gastric acid secretion and brain and intestinal water content following acetic acid- induced gastric ulcer in male rats
Objective: Gut–brain axis (GBA) is very important in creation and modulation of gastrointestinal problems. Aloe vera gel has gastroprotective properties. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of aqueous extract of Aloe vera leaves on the gastric acid secretion and brain and intestinal water content following acetic acid gastric ulcer induction. Materials and Methods: Gastric ulce...
